At the age of 14 he was already writing computer programs for big Multinationals, like Philips and Royal Dutch Shell. And at the same time he also had a profound interest in natural medicines. He moved to Amsterdam to study one year Natural Medicines at the Academy of Natural Therapies, Then one year of Modern Medicines and Economics at the University of Amsterdam.
He didn’t finish his studies because he got offered a very attractive job in the IT industry, where he worked for some 25 years, travelling all around the globe. His last job position was a Consulting Engineer in Telecommunications, specialized in Integrity and Security of big and critical international computer networks. Main customers were Governments, Banks, Insurance Companies, Justice and Police departments and the Military, NATO.
In 2001 he decided to make a switch and ended his professional IT Career, moved from The Netherlands to Spain with his family, to start a new life in the Mountains of Northern Spain, mounting an organic farm, which he managed with his family for six years and then started his own import export company. He never lost his interest in natural medicines, and in January 2014 he made a long awaited dream reality, drinking Ayahuasca in Peru, not out of curiosity, but to cure himself. This made a profound impact on him, not only he got cured, it completely changed his life. He knew when leaving Peru after a month the first time, he would be back. Then in Europe he also was involved in several Ayahuasca ‘ceremonies’ but he missed something during the ceremonies, ‘The Jungle’. After travelling back and forth a couple of times between Peru and Spain, he decided to sell everything in Spain and immigrate to Peru in the summer of 2015.
He learned to cook Ayahuasca and experimented a lot with cooking methods, source materials, and tried everything on himself first. With remarkable experiences and results. In January 2016 he started to organize and facilitate Ayahuasca ceremonies three times a week at the Ayahuasca Medicine House in Iquitos, selecting several local curanderos and curanderas to work with of different origins, but most of all people with at least 20-30 years of experience working with Ayahuasca. From the beginning he served his own Ayahuasca, to ensure the safety of and be able to predict the impact and effects Ayahuasca can have on his passengers. He always has at least two different kinds of Ayahuasca available, which he serves based on several factors and evaluations of his passengers before Ceremony.
Without losing his respect for the traditional use of Ayahuasca in a ritual setting as a Natural Medicine, he also discovered some interesting and contra dictionary facts about Ayahuasca. From physical, mental, psychological and spiritual points of view. He is also the Vice President of the recently founded Ayahuasca Safety Association, an effort to jointly professionalize and improve the centers and persons who work with Ayahuasca and other natural medicines in Peru, with a primary focus on practical Ethical, Medical and Safety standards to be complied by the members of the Ayahuasca Safety Association.
